Overlays

An overlay is one page that you add to OBS. Everything inside it, like alerts, chat, goals and timers, is a rift.

Making an overlay

  1. Open Overlays and press Create overlay.
  2. Give it a name, like "Main Stream".
  3. Pick a size: 1920 × 1080, 2560 × 1440, 3840 × 2160, 1280 × 720 or your own.

You can rename an overlay, star it as a favorite or delete it from the Overlays page. Your plan sets how many overlays you can have; the page shows how many you use.

Adding it to OBS

  1. In the editor, press OBS URL and Copy. The URL looks like https://fishrift.com/overlay/<id>/live.
  2. In OBS, add a Browser Source and paste the URL.
  3. Set the width and height to the size of your overlay.

The overlay updates itself. When Fishrift releases an update, open overlays reload on their own.

Heads up: treat your overlay URL like a password. Anyone who has it can open your overlay.

Heads up: a Browser Source that is hidden in OBS plays no alerts. Alerts that arrive while it is hidden are dropped, not saved for later. Keep the overlay with your alerts in a scene that is showing.

More than one overlay

Each alert plays on the overlay that holds the Alert Box it matched. A "follows only" overlay never shows a donation alert from another overlay.

The editor

  • Layers on the left list your rifts. Drag to reorder, double click to rename, group, duplicate, lock or hide them.
  • Settings on the right show the selected rift. Every rift has a name, its own settings and a Position, size and style section.
  • The eye on a layer hides or shows a rift in OBS right away, without reloading.
  • Add rift opens the rift picker with a search box and your saved Alert Boxes.
  • EMULATE sends a test alert. See Alerts.

Your default colour

Every colour you never picked uses your default colour: Fishrift pink unless you choose your own under Account > Preferences. New rifts and colour pickers start with it.

Currency

Pick your currency under Account > Preferences. Fishrift shows that symbol for money amounts. It doesn't convert between currencies.
