Alerts
Alerts play on stream when someone follows, subscribes, cheers, raids or tips. They live in an Alert Box rift, and you design them in the Alert Studio.
The Alert Box
Add an Alert Box from Add rift. A new one comes with eight ready-made alerts:
| Alert | Plays on | Text |
|---|---|---|
| New Follower | Twitch and Kick follow, YouTube subscribe | {user} just followed! |
| New Sub | Twitch and Kick sub, YouTube membership | {user} subscribed! 🎉 |
| Resub | Twitch resub | {user} resubbed for {months} months! ({tier}) |
| Gift Sub | Twitch and Kick gift subs | {user} gifted {amount}! |
| Cheer | Twitch bits | {user} cheered {amount}! |
| Raid | Twitch and Kick raids | {user} raided with {viewers} viewers! |
| Donation | Ko-fi tips | {user} donated {amount}! {message} |
| Hype Train | Twitch hype train start | HYPE TRAIN! 🚂 |
Press Open Alert Studio to change them or add more.
Use one Alert Box on several overlays
Every Alert Box is saved under My Alertboxes in the rift picker. Add it to another overlay from there. Changes to the alerts show on every overlay; position and size stay per overlay.
The Alert Studio
The Studio shows a live preview of your Alert Box at its real spot on screen, your list of alerts and the settings of the selected alert.
- + Alert adds an alert, + Group adds a group to keep things tidy.
- Each alert can be switched on or off, duplicated, moved to a group or deleted.
- Press Save when you are done. An UNSAVED badge shows when you have changes.
At the top of each alert:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | For you and your public Alerts page |
| Chance | 0 to 100%. A chance below 100 makes the alert play only sometimes |
| Queue | Q1, Q2, Q3, or Rift to use the Alert Box's queue. See Alert queues |
| CD | Cooldown in seconds. The alert won't play again within this time |
Triggers
An alert plays when one of its triggers matches. Press + trigger to add more than one. You only see the platforms you connected.
| Platform | Triggers |
|---|---|
| Twitch | Follow, Subscribe, Resub, Gift Sub, Bits, Raid, Channel Points |
| Kick | Follow, Subscribe, Resub, Gift Sub, Raid |
| YouTube | New Member, Member Milestone, Gifted Memberships, Super Chat, Any Membership |
| Ko-fi | Tip, Subscription, Commission, Shop Order |
| External | External tip, from a donation site connected to Fishrift |
Conditions
Triggers with an amount have a condition: Any, At least, Exact or Between. Resubs compare months; bits, gift subs, raids and tips compare the amount. Sub triggers can be limited to Tier 1, 2 or 3.
Which alert plays
When several alerts match, the most specific one wins:
- An Exact match beats an At least match.
- A higher At least beats a lower one.
- Both beat an alert for Any amount.
- A tier filter breaks a tie.
So a "resub 12 months" alert beats your general resub alert when someone resubs for 12 months.
With several equally specific alerts, each rolls its Chance and one of the winners plays. When none pass, Fishrift tries the next less specific alerts. If nothing plays, the event still shows in your activity feed.
Gift bombs play the gifter's Gift Sub alert once, not one alert per gifted viewer.
Alert text variables
Use these in the alert text and in text to speech:
| Variable | Shows |
|---|---|
{user} | The viewer's name |
{amount} | The amount with its unit, like 100 Bits, 3 Gift Subs, 42 Raiders, Tier 1 or €5.00 |
{type} | The event, like Follow, Sub, Bits or Donation |
{message} | The viewer's message |
{months} | Months, for resubs |
{tier} | T1, T2 or T3 |
{viewers} | Raid viewers as a plain number |
{level} | Hype train level |
{recipient} | Who received a gift, when the platform tells |
{game} | The game, when the event has one |
{title} | The title, when the event has one |
{source} | The name of an external donation site |
{amount} already includes the unit. Write {user} cheered {amount}!, not {amount} bits.
Visuals
Layout: use a preset (text only, media with text above or below, media only, media left, media right, text over media) or Free to place the media, name and message yourself.
Media: an image, GIF or video from your Media Library, with volume, fit and size.
Sound: add one or more sounds. Each has its own volume and chance weight, so you can play a random sound per alert.
Text: font, size, weight, separate styles for the name and message, and an animation (typewriter, fade in or slide up).
Style: outline, shadow, solid or gradient text, a highlight colour for the name and amount, and a background.
Animation: entrance and exit (fade, slide, scale or bounce), their speed, and how long the alert stays (1 to 20 seconds).
Text to speech: pick a voice (Brian, Amy, Emma, Joanna, Matthew, Ivy, Lotte or Ruben), speed, delay and volume, and what it reads. The default is {user} says: {message}.
Advanced: limit long usernames and add your own CSS.
Your public Alerts page
On the Profile tab of an alert, choose if it shows on your public Alerts page, with a display name, rarity (Common to Mythic), category, description and a preview.
Alert queues
Alerts wait in three queues: Q1, Q2 and Q3. Each queue plays one alert at a time, and the three queues play side by side. An alert uses its own queue setting, or the Alert Box's Queue priority (Q1 by default).
Each queue has a state:
| State | What happens |
|---|---|
| Active | Alerts play one after another |
| Paused | New alerts wait, and play when the queue is active again |
| Blocked | New alerts for this queue are thrown away |
Change the states with the Q1, Q2 and Q3 buttons in the chat dock (green, amber, red) or with your Stream Deck.
Pause, mute and skip
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Pause | All queues hold their alerts until you resume |
| Mute | Alerts still show, without sound and text to speech |
| Skip | Ends the alert playing now and moves on |
| Skip all | Clears every queue |
Pause, mute and queue states stay the same when OBS reloads. An alert never plays twice when a platform sends the same event again.
Testing alerts
EMULATE in the editor: pick an Alert Box, pick an alert, fill in test data (name, tier, months, gift count, bits, amount, raid viewers) and press Fire Test Alert. Turn on Send to OBS too to see it in OBS as well.
Emulate in the Alert Studio plays the selected alert in the preview. Use Custom values to test a specific amount and see which alert would win.
Test alerts don't extend your subathon, move goals or fire integrations.
Replay
Events in your activity feed that played an alert get a Replay button. It plays that alert again on the same Alert Box.
